The Human Nature Project session facilitators

Ava Maginnis

I have almost 10 years of experience in facilitating nature connection in a wide range of settings. As a qualified forest therapy practitioner, I have worked with hundreds of individuals from diverse backgrounds both as a facilitator for The Human Nature Project, and also in my private practice.  I previously trained in Outdoor Leadership with Wildwise at Schumacher College, UK in 2015.

As lead tutor on Light Box's Forest Therapist Practitioner Training programme for Light Box, I enjoy supporting others who want to help bridge the gap between the human and the more than human world, in order to benefit human health, and the health of the planet.

I have a particular interest in nature and mental health, having worked in community-based mental health promotion for many years, and I am currently training in counselling and psychotherapy, as an extension of this interest.

I believe holistic health lies in the relationships we encounter with ourselves, each other and the world we experience. Well facilitated Forest Therapy Practice can strengthen those relationships, leaving us feeling more at ease, resilient and revitalised.
